The closest alternative to RocketReach is Snov.io. Email finder bundled with a cold email sender, priced per credit, and it starts at 39 USD a month. Before switching, the section below on what leaving RocketReach costs is the one most buyers skip and later regret.

TL;DR

RocketReach has the largest claimed database of the five and the most restrictive contract. There is no mid-term exit, nothing is refundable, and the company's own help centre answers the most basic billing question in two contradictory ways.

Why do people leave RocketReach?

5 recurring reasons, each traced to a line in RocketReach's own terms, pricing page or help centre rather than to a review site. Where RocketReach states something in its own words, that wording is quoted verbatim.

1. You cannot leave before the term ends

RocketReach's subscriber terms state: “Your access to the Subscription Service cannot be terminated by you before the expiration of the current Subscription Term.” Alongside that: “All payment obligations are non-cancelable, and all amounts paid are non-refundable.” No other tool compared here removes the mid-term exit entirely.

2. RocketReach answers the credit question two opposite ways, and both articles are live

One help article states that “anytime you click the Show Contact Information button for a new contact a lookup credit is used.” Another states that “a lookup credit is deducted only if you receive at least 1 verified email address.” The current credits article agrees with the second, which suggests the first is stale, but a buyer can be quoted either.

3. The advertised monthly price is the annual price divided by twelve

RocketReach states that the plans and pricing page shows the annual amount divided by 12 months. A genuine month-to-month subscription costs more than the headline figure, and unlimited lookups are annual-only with a fair usage cap of 10,000 lookups a month.

4. Cancelling destroys credits permanently

RocketReach states that on cancellation “any remaining lookups or export credits will expire at the end of your billing cycle and cannot be restored,” and that if you resubscribe later “any lost credits will not be reinstated.” You also lose saved contacts, integrations and API access.

5. Part of the database comes from customers' connected email accounts

RocketReach's privacy policy describes a Community Program in which customers “may opt-in and choose to share Personal Data by connecting their cloud email account.” The rest is described only as public sources, people directories and data brokers, with no upstream vendor named.

What does leaving RocketReach actually cost?

RocketReach is the hardest of the five to leave. The contract removes the mid-term exit, nothing paid is refundable, and credits are destroyed rather than held when you cancel.

Leaving RocketReachWhat the terms say
Mid-term cancellationNot permitted. Access “cannot be terminated by you before the expiration of the current Subscription Term.”
RefundNone. “All payment obligations are non-cancelable, and all amounts paid are non-refundable.”
Credits on cancellationExpire at the end of the billing cycle and cannot be restored, even if you resubscribe.
What else you loseSaved contacts, Autopilot, Messages, integrations and API access. Free search remains.
Unlimited lookupsAnnual plans only, with a fair usage cap of 10,000 lookups a month.

Read from RocketReach's own terms of service and help centre on 2026-09-06. Quoted wording is verbatim. Where the vendor does not address a case, the cell says TBA rather than guessing.

How does RocketReach compare with the alternatives?

RocketReach and its 3 closest alternatives, with every price read off the vendor's own pricing page on 2026-09-06. Measured columns say TBA because the accuracy test has not been run yet.

Tool Entry price / month Usable rate (%)95% CINo result (%)Cost per usable (USD)
RocketReach (current) TBA TBATBATBATBA
Snov.io 39 USD TBATBATBATBA
Hunter.io 49 USD TBATBATBATBA
Apollo.io 65 USD TBATBATBATBA

Prices read off each vendor's own pricing page on 2026-09-06. Measured columns say TBA because the accuracy test has not been run yet, and only Snov.io and Hunter.io will carry measured figures when it is. Why three of the five are not measured. Full method on the methodology page.

Which alternative to RocketReach fits your case?

Each alternative below is judged specifically as a replacement for RocketReach, including where it is worse, not only where it wins.

1. Snov.io, the closest replacement

Email finder bundled with a cold email sender, priced per credit.

Monthly pricing: Starter 39 USD, Pro S 99 USD, Pro M 189 USD, Pro L 369 USD.

Moving from RocketReach: The cheapest way in, and the only one of the five that also sends. Whether the addresses hold up is the open question this page has not answered yet.

Where Snov.io is worse than RocketReach: Credits are consumed by both finding and verifying, so the headline credit count goes further on paper than in practice

Commercial relationship: Approved affiliate. Last checked 2026-08-31. The link below is a referral link.

2. Hunter.io

The best known domain search tool, strong free tier for one-off lookups.

Monthly pricing: Starter 49 USD, Growth 149 USD, Scale 299 USD.

Moving from RocketReach: Pays a premium for being the default choice. Worth it only if the extra accuracy shows up in the measured table, which is still TBA.

Where Hunter.io is worse than RocketReach: Entry plan costs 49 USD a month, ten USD more than Snov.io for a narrower job; The pricing page opens on the annual price divided by twelve, so the first number a buyer sees is 34 USD and the real month-to-month price is 49 USD

Commercial relationship: None. An affiliate application is pending and has not been approved. Last checked 2026-08-31. The link below is a standard, non-affiliate link.

3. Apollo.io

A full sales database rather than a pure finder, with a free tier most small teams never outgrow.

Monthly pricing: Basic 65 USD per seat, Professional 99 USD per seat.

Moving from RocketReach: Reads as the cheap option and is not. Basic is 65 USD per seat month to month, not the 49 USD the pricing page opens on, and the per-seat unit multiplies that by your team size.

Where Apollo.io is worse than RocketReach: Priced PER SEAT, so a three-person team pays 195 USD a month on Basic month to month, while the credit-based tools charge the same for one seat or ten; The pricing page opens on the annual price, so Basic reads as 49 USD when the month-to-month price is 65 USD, and Organization cannot be bought monthly at all; Organization requires a minimum of three seats

Not independently benchmarked. Apollo.io's own terms of service forbid disclosing benchmark results without prior written consent, so no measured figure for Apollo.io appears on this site until that consent exists.

Commercial relationship: None. An affiliate application is pending and has not been approved. Last checked 2026-08-31. The link below is a standard, non-affiliate link.

When is RocketReach still the right answer?

Three cases where RocketReach is still the right answer. If your reason for leaving is not among the 5 above, switching probably costs more than it saves.

Switching costs time and usually breaks a working process. If none of the reasons above match yours, staying with RocketReach is the cheaper decision, and this page would rather say so than sell you a migration you do not need.

What else do buyers ask about leaving RocketReach?

Does RocketReach charge a credit when a lookup finds nothing?
RocketReach publishes both answers. One help article says a credit is used any time you click to show contact information; another says a credit is deducted only if you receive at least one verified result. The current credits article agrees with the second, so charge-on-success is the likely live policy, but the contradicting article is still published.
Can you cancel RocketReach mid-term?
No. The subscriber terms state that access cannot be terminated by you before the current subscription term expires, and that all payment obligations are non-cancelable and all amounts paid are non-refundable.
Is RocketReach's free plan really free forever?
No. RocketReach grants three sets of lookup credits in total, issued as you return after depleting the previous set, and free accounts get no rollover. An older help article describing monthly free credits is still published but contradicted by the two newer ones.
What happens to RocketReach credits if you resubscribe?
They are not reinstated. RocketReach states that credits expire at the end of the billing cycle on cancellation, cannot be restored, and that any lost credits will not be reinstated if you subscribe again later.
